Hotel Cozumel and Resort sits on the northern edge of Cozumel Hotel Zone. It’s walled off from street access by a paved lot and boasts two prominent landmarks: an enormous pink planter and dolphin-accented fountain (neither were working during our visit).
Hotel has 181 rooms on three floors, including six Junior Suites. Each comes equipped with free Wi-Fi, bottled water and flat-screen TVs; decor is kept minimal with white walls, old tile floors and disrepair in some of the wicker furniture. For an additional fee you can enjoy unlimited dining and drinks at three resort restaurants.
At this resort, its outdoor pool is the star attraction, boasting geometric cutouts and an island crowned by a Maya pyramid. It is lined with blue sun loungers and umbrellas so finding a spot is rarely an issue. Adjacent to it is a small fitness center featuring out-of-date cardio equipment as well as weight benches; an indoor kids’ play area and patchy soccer field round off on-site activities while a tunnel provides direct access to nearby beach.
