Over five days and 30 hours of classroom and water skill development training, once completed, students will become certified divers for life (up to 18 meters/60 feet depth limit)! Children 10 or under qualify as Junior Open Water Divers.

You can enjoy scuba diving and pursue certification with the PADI Open Water Diver course. Depending on your age and medical history, a letter from your physician approving diving may be required before enrolling.
Beginning with an introduction to scuba diving with an instructor for one day, students will learn the fundamentals and complete two open water boat dives on Cozumel’s stunning reef system. All equipment rental, dive site entry fees, and taxes are included in this course.
ReActivate Diver is designed for certified divers who have not dived in over six months, helping you regain confidence in the water while reviewing basic diving techniques such as mask clearing, equalization, regulator recovery, buoyancy control, and alternate air source usage. This course is an economical and efficient way to rekindle diving while saving both money and time during vacation trips.
Before arriving in Cozumel, complete the theory portion of your Open Water Diver course online using PADI eLearning – saving one full day of classroom time here on Cozumel!
After successfully completing your PADI Open Water Diver Course and being certified to dive to 18 meters, the Advanced Open Water Diver Course gives you an opportunity to hone your diving skills, test deeper diving conditions, and discover Cozumel’s underwater world with three adventure dives of your choosing – such as Wreck diving, Digital Underwater Photography Fish Identification Night Peak Performance Buoyancy or Enriched Air Nitrox diving.
Experience Zero Decompression Diving on one of your adventure dives for the thrill of learning how to fly underwater without disturbing the delicate coral reef system!

Are There Padi Advanced Open Water Courses on Cozumel Island?

By the time you complete your PADI Open Water certification, chances are good that you have found yourself hooked on diving and are looking to take it a step further. The PADI Advanced Open Water (AOW) course provides the ideal way to do exactly this.
The Advanced Open Water Course is a five-dive course that builds upon what was learned during your Open Water Course and opens up further diving experiences for you to experience. It is also required for some other courses like Rescue Diver and Dive Master Instructor certifications.
Though not an intensive course, AOW will introduce you to some of the more challenging aspects of diving, such as scuba navigation and deep diving. Furthermore, adventure dives such as peak performance buoyancy diving are available; search and recovery, night diving, and wreck diving are just a few more examples; some, like peak performance buoyancy, are relatively skill-intensive while Wreck Diver or Night Dive may provide more observational experiences.
After learning and practicing with your instructor, you’ll complete five open water dives in total. Of these dives, one will be a deep dive while two others are navigation dives – while three more are adventure dives of your choice, such as digital underwater imaging, drift, dry suit fish identification, night dive buoyancy search recovery, underwater naturalist wreck diving, etc.
Your dives should not only be enjoyable and educational; they should also help build up your confidence as a diver. Once your AOW certification has been earned, the world of scuba diving awaits exploration and discovery!
Preparing for an Advanced Open Water course means reading through and doing a knowledge review with your instructor, either via eLearning before your vacation starts or directly during it. Doing this ahead will save time during your dive vacation so you can focus on mastering diving skills during dives themselves. As part of an AOW course, your instructor will assist in selecting five adventure dives best suited to you as part of a selection process during this course.
